That's what I go to school for: Graduate Fashion Week

It's that time of year again when 3rd years celebrate graduating university - Graduate Fashion Week is the highlight of this for fashion students across the country. Being from the University of Westminster I am of course a little bit biased when going in to this. The University of Westminster does have one of the best fashion courses and department in the country, some of the alumni include Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Bailey and Markus Lupfer. All eyes this year turn to fashion graduate Hannah Duckworth.

The University of Westminster Graduate Fashion Show took place on the 28th May at Ambika P3 Gallery, Marylebone; this was the first catwalk to kick of the graduate fashion season. Everyone was on a high on the evening, there was a lot of cheering and clapping throughout the show which was enjoyed with a few flutes of champagne. The show itself was upbeat and modern and the fact that the Wmin team got Alice Dellal and Pixie Geldolf to model some of their designs was an added plus to the evening's event.

It is without a doubt that it was Hannah Duckworth who stole the show. The 23 year old from Tyne and Wear has previously interned for Christopher Kane but her work is still relatively low key. Duckworth focuses on womenswear, she wants to design for 'influential women with a slight masculine edge'; her graduate collection flirted with colour but the lines were clean and design was stand out (This may be due to the very tall hats that the models were wearing)

Duckworth is definitely a designer that people should be keeping an eye on, she is up and coming and I wish her all the best after her graduation. Hopefully in the future we will see her designs going down the catwalk under her own name and brand, Hannah Duckworth.
