He is probably most famous for his bumble bee necklace - so cute, but this isn't the only well loved item of jewellery from his collection - my newest favourite piece is the shrimp necklace.
The jeweler, Monroe, set up his first studio in south London in 1987 and now sells his jewellery in many different boutiques and shops all over the world; he opened his own first boutique last night in the area close to London Bridge. Ever since Monroe was named UK Jewellery Designer of the year in 2008 his popularity has increased and spread like wild fire; I first came across his jewellery designs in my favourite jewellery shop, Rock Lobster (a jewellery boutique in Worcester, UK.) Monroe is known for his nature inspired designs and the elegant simplicity in his pieces, all of which the new 'Goring Shrimp' necklace embodies.
The 'Goring Shrimp' necklace has been created with afternoon tea in mind as it is based on what Monroe remembers after having afternoon tea when he was a young boy...
“As a little boy I would run wild in the Suffolk countryside accompanied by my brothers and a dog called Sheba and buy huge bags of shrimp from the fishermen and sail them home for tea which consisted of a huge pot of tea and crusty white bread smothered with cool butter. These teas would last all afternoon until the sun sank below the high walls. So The Goring Shrimp will always remind me of Spring afternoons lazing in the walled garden at the Old Parsonage. And of drinking tea of course.
The Goring shrimp is a very likeable little chap; there is a great sense of fun about him and a tiny touch of nostalgia. I almost feel guilty that my mouth waters when I see him!”

This May sees the release of tickets for a special Alex Monroe afternoon tea at The Goring Hotel, Belgravia. The 'Goring Shrimp' necklace is to accompany the afternoon tea, that is inspired by the designer himself. Tickets for this incredible afternoon tea go on sale on May 1st, and the are expected to sell out - so loved ones and partners (especially mine) pay attention to this. The tickets are £195pp for the afternoon tea, this may sound a little steep at first but this price includes the 'Goring Shrimp' necklace as well, making the price so much more reasonable, and a definite must have for me - what is better than afternoon tea on a balcony with a loved one whilst wearing Monroe's latest necklace design, surely this is every girls dream?! If you cant afford this then you can buy tickets for just the afternoon itself at £35pp - but what is afternoon tea without unique jewellery to show off there?

So cute, right?
